These days, Koreans are obsessed with MBTI analysis. BTS themselves have taken the MBTI test and even filmed a video analyzing their results β that's how seriously Koreans take personality typing.
MBTI has multiple categories and is fairly accurate at identifying personality traits, so there's good reason people trust it.

But before MBTI took over, there was another personality analysis method that was hugely popular among Koreans in the early 2000s. Many people called it nonsense, but just as many were completely obsessed with it.
Blood type personality theory.
It's not as trendy now that MBTI dominates, but the culture ran so deep that even today, Koreans still ask each other's blood type when they first meet β and quietly judge each other's personality based on the answer. Even people who say they "don't believe in it" have zero resistance to being asked. It's just part of Korean social culture.
So β what are BTS's blood types, and what do they supposedly reveal?
Four members out of seven are Type A. That's more than half the group.
One of the most widespread stereotypes about Type A in Korea is: "They're timid." Type A people tend to get annoyed when they hear this. But as if to comfort them, the full description usually adds: "Timid, but meticulous."
In fact, when blood type personality theory was at its peak, the ones who protested the most were probably the Type A's.
Since Type A is the most common blood type among Koreans (about 34%), it's not surprising that the majority of BTS falls into this category. RM, J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook surely have cautious sides β but trying to group all four of them into one personality type is clearly a stretch.
Now for Type O β the hyung line duo: Jin and SUGA.
Type O received fairly generous evaluations in blood type personality theory. They're described as optimistic, confident, and natural leaders. The main downsides? Stubborn and nosy. Compared to the rather negative framing that Type A received, Type O people were generally satisfied with their description.
And honestly, both Jin and SUGA do show Type O traits. They're the solid pillars of BTS's hyung line, providing stability and strength to the team.
In Korea, Type AB has always been treated as the eccentric blood type. There's even a well-known phrase: "Either a genius or a psychopath."
Some extroverted AB types actually enjoyed this reputation, but others found it genuinely hurtful.
In BTS, V is the only Type AB β and honestly, his famously "4D" personality does fit the stereotype to some extent. Among all seven members, V is the one most often described as unpredictable and unique.
Here's what makes V even more special: Type AB accounts for only about 4% of the global population. Combined with the fact that V has perfect pitch (only 0.01% of people have this) and is ambidextrous β V is quite literally a statistical rarity.
There's no Type B member in BTS.
But let me tell you about Type B culture in Korea β because there was literally a movie about it. In 2005, a film called "My Boyfriend Is Type B" was released. The movie was based entirely on the blood type stereotype that Type B men are irresponsible, selfish, and free-spirited β and it depicted that exactly as-is.
The film was a commercial hit, and the lead actors rose to stardom. That's how deeply Koreans were into blood type theory in the early 2000s.
Blood type personality theory may have faded from the spotlight, but it's still quietly embedded in Korean daily life. People still casually ask about blood types when meeting someone new. And when someone does something characteristic, you'll still hear Koreans say things like:
"Ah, of course β that's such an A-type thing to do."
Time has passed, but the culture has stuck around.
Also, when people share the same blood type, they feel a subtle sense of connection. SUGA and Jin (both O), or the four A-types (J-Hope, RM, Jimin, and Jungkook) β there's definitely an unspoken sense of "we share the same blood."
This blood type culture wasn't just a Korean thing β it was popular across Asia, especially in Japan. It peaked in the early 2000s, and since BTS members were all born in the '90s, they definitely grew up influenced by this culture.
